Joanne is a rogue Weather Warden from Florida who takes no prisoners. Chosen at the age of eighteen to enter the elite Wardens program, she learned how to hone her natural skill of controlling the weather at Princeton University's wardens program. A natural at chemistry and physics, it did not take her long to work her way up from lowly help desk assistant to staff warden in sunny south Florida: a cushy job for anyone. Things went well for a while, living it up in Florida while occasionally stopping a hurricane or two, but that wasn't enough for Joanne. She longed to be promoted up in order to obtain a Djinn, the powerful magical beings used as conduits for Warden powers. However, she was skipped over and over again, a consistent point of annoyance for Joanne. One hot afternoon in late summer, Joanne went into the Wardens office to take care of a routine tropical storm, no sweat. What she didn't expect was to be asked back to the State Warden's, Bob Biringanine, house for a little private meeting. What had seemed innocent enough ended badly, with Bob implanting a demon mark inside Joanne that sapped her powers and her very soul. On the run from the mark and the Wardens themselves, she started a cross-country chase in order to escape the arm of the law and find out what in the world to do about the demon mark inside her. Putting her trust in a Djinn named David and her oldest friend, Estrella, she was soon double crossed when she discovered that Estrella was after her demon mark. In a battle to the death, Joanne ended up taking on two demon marks and dying, her body becoming reborn as a Djinn with eternal life and unlimited power. Joanne, in her warden form, is able to control the weather through use of Oversight, a kind of astral projection. She is able to break chains of molecules and reverse polarities in order to defuse the most dangerous of storms. | PERSONALITY |
Joanne is a sassy, brassy and bold woman who takes no bullshit. The product of a single-parent home, she's used to toughing it out on her own and is not a wilting flower when it comes to taking on a task. A little brash, Joanne tends to act before thinking and this, more often than not, tends to get her into trouble. More likely to kick ass and take names later, this trait caused her to go on a wild car chase across the country in order to escape the law rather than face down the consequences of going rogue from the Wardens Association. Hot-blooded and hot-tempered, Joanne is a slave to her passions. This is easily seen in how quickly she falls for David, the Djinn who has taken it upon himself to protect her. A romance born of danger, Joanne falls for David over the course of a few days: enough that she is willing to give up her own life before allowing him to be enslaved to a new master. Joanne's temperamental nature makes her a live wire and a loose cannon when it comes to controlling the weather. Traits not normally seen as positive within the Wardens Association, they work for Joanne. She's not afraid to get her hands dirty and she's willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done: be it driving well over a hundred miles an hour (she's an adrenaline junkie) or even dying to save the ones she loves. |
